Can a Food Combining Diet For Weight Loss really work?
If you’re like most people you will have struggled with your weight on an off all your life. The older you get the harder it becomes to lose that weight. Well, that can all STOP today if you want it to.
A food combining diet for weight loss does work, as do many other diets IF YOU STICK TO THEM. The biggest problem I have found with diets is staying motivated to achieve your final goal. We start off really well and the diet works for a while and then the weight loss seems to slow down, you get slightly disheartened and decide to have a treat and from that point, you tend to drift back into your old ways.
I will let you into a little secret. Unless you just want to just drop a few kilos, losing weight is a change in LIFESTYLE not just changing what you eat and this is where many of us go wrong.
Food combining has long been a successful diet in Europe. It can solely be used to lose weight but it also allows you to live on lighter and healthier foods. This type of diet increases your metabolic rate which will increase the calories you burn and it also helps with the removal of toxins from your body.
Combining foods for weight loss or “weight management foods” as I like to call them is not a new concept but because it takes a little bit of creativity and effort, which is what most people lack, it is quite often overlooked as a serious way to lose weight. Let’s face it, it’s a lot easier to try one of these “quick weight loss supplements or pills” but as you will see later on sometimes these create additional problems later in life such as fatty liver disease.
One other very important point I would like to mention is that some people simply can’t lose much weight. You can actually have a healthy diet and gain weight. There’s an extremely common, yet often overlooked, reason why this is happening and it is down to an inadequate digestive system.
Believe it or not, research tells us that it affects almost everyone at some time.
What is a Food Combining Diet and how simple is it to implement?
The basics of Food Combining are very simple. Our bodies digest food at different rates and require different enzymes to break down the various foods we eat which in turn slows our digestion process.
You see, while our bodies naturally produce an array of enzymes to aid in the digestion process, due to age, stress, an unbalanced diet, poor eating habits, food additives, and preservatives it is extremely common for our bodies to no longer produce those all-important quantities of each enzyme to properly digest the food we eat.
A variety of diet companies, like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig, tell you to eat less and exercise more, which does work in a lot of cases but these companies have no interest in what food groups you actually combine together in your stomach. What they don’t know is that what happens in your stomach and digestive tract is important and can be the key to long-term health and weight loss!
The basics of a food combining diet.
This is not rocket science. Do not combine carbohydrates and proteins at the same meal. An example would be if you are having potatoes for lunch do not combine it with meat or fish. Likewise, if you are having bacon and eggs for breakfast, do not combine them with bread.
What you can do is combine proteins or carbohydrates with what are classified as ‘neutral’ foods and fortunately for us there are a lot of neutral foods available which gives us a wide range of choices when it comes to recipes, allowing us to have plenty of healthy food combinations.
I think this is a major benefit compared to most diets which are often restrictive, boring and hard to stick to.
Also unlike many diets, there are no forbidden foods, the secret is how you combine these foods that make all the difference. Hence, in my opinion, a food combining diet for weight loss is a satisfying, way to lose weight.
